A Song for Steve
Here are the lyrics to Steve’s 60th birthday song to the tune of “Drive By ” by Train. This video is in a slideshow sing-a-long format.
Steve progresses from a Birmingham lad destined to work in a local factory to a job in pharmaceuticals but later enrolled to take a degree, became very fit, and married Elly. He has worked as a charity educator which included dressing up as a mascot for the Albion. All this and a firm love for Jane Austin, handy as a conversation piece with his school mini bus passengers. A cabin added to the family home would suit as an Air BnB too.
Our dear young Steve was a Brummy man,
Told to work as a factory hand
“That’s ok for the likes of you”,
But our Steve took a different view so
He moved down to Worthing town
Now Beechams was the best around!
A teccy job is what he then found!
Oh that’s not enough, he couldn’t live it up
Wanted an “ology” and with that knowledge he
Went off to Brighton town and Sussex Uni found
To be the best that he could be
Happy Birthday, Steve
We cannot believe
You were born in 19 dum-dee-dum
Just a shy guy
Never known a bloke like
You to make us laugh and cry
Got your six pack
Now it’s time to sit back
Yes we’re only joking
You’re our racing road king
You mean a lot to
Everyone around you
As you go flying by!!
You’re our meditation man
Yoga plus vegetarian
Just beware the colon cleanse
Pee all night and pee all day.
Finally summed up the welly,
Got around to asking Elly.
“Built our house, so please say I do..”
From his Segal’s home to the Seagulls dome
He thought he’d signed up but he had to line up
In Gully’s uniform, his duties to perform
Got those smokers to reform
Happy Birthday, Steve
We cannot believe
You were born in 19 dum-dee-dum
Just a shy guy
Never known a bloke like
You to make us laugh and cry
Got his six-pack
Now it’s time to sit back
Yes we’re only joking
You’re our racing road king
You mean a lot to
Everyone around you
As you go flying by!!
Another world can be unfurled
Jane Austen’s his real pearl and just as well
Got plenty now to say to those clever Roedean girls!
Live in their house on Seasaw Way
Built a cabin for the girls to play
It’s a great opportunity
Let it out, Air BnB
Happy Birthday, Steve
We cannot believe
You were born in 19 dum-dee-dum
Just a shy guy
Never known a bloke like
You to make us laugh and cry
Got your six-pack
Now it’s time to sit back
Yes we’re only joking
You’re our racing road king
You mean a lot to
Everyone around you
As you go flying by!!
