Beryl has led a full life: she worked in the mayor’s office during the war but was sure to go out dancing even during the backout. Known for her love of cats, she was the finest of gardeners and a real sportswoman: golf being her specialty. Most of all she is the family favourite Auntie B.
Well, hello, Beryl, you
Are in our heart!
We’re celebrating your own special day.
A hundred years ago
Was just the start
Of a life lived in full in every way.
Born in Brighton, beautiful,
Wears a smile so cute-i-full
Worked as secretary to the mayor.
Though despite the bombs and blackout nights,
You danced away, enjoyed your life.
There’s never a dull moment to spare.
Well, hello, Beryl, you
Are in our heart!
We’re celebrating your own special day.
A hundred years ago
Was just the start
Of a life lived in full every way.
A cat comes by one sunny day,
Flashed her big brown eyes your way,
And soon she’s in your house forevermore.
So Rosie was her special name,
A feline friend, lifelong became,
A dozen more stray cats now at the door!
You played your golf at Hollingb’ry
Painted pictures marv’lously
Your clever talents there for all to see.
Your garden was the best around,
The queen of flowers you were crowned.
But best is you’re our fav’rite Auntie B!
Well, hello, Beryl, you
Are in our heart,
We’re celebrating your centenary!
A hundred years ago
Was just the start,
So Happy Birthday to you Auntie B!!
